The History

Lakeside Station has been a landmark in Belgrade for over a century evolving alongside the community it serves. In the early 1900s, it served as a stop along the Maine Central Railroad, a small but important hub for travel and trade through the region. Over time, the building took on new life as a local church, offering a place for friends, families, and neighbors to gather and connect.

Today, it has been thoughtfully renovated into the Lakeside Station Artisan Stop. We’ve worked to preserve the historical character and charm of the original structure while creating a bright, welcoming space for artisans—local and beyond—to showcase their work. 

While the function of the building has changed over the decades, it remains a true “stop,” a place to pull over, wander in, and experience a piece of Belgrade’s history while discovering pieces that feel special and lasting.
